Nansha 'city brain' facilitates smart management

The digital city operation and management center of Guangzhou's Nansha district, dubbed the "city brain," has made great contributions to the smart city management in the district, local media outlets reported on Sept 15.

Nansha's city brain has now covered more than 80,000 internet of things equipment and gathered over 1.28 billion structured government affairs data, providing solid support for works such as risk disposition and pandemic prevention and control.

Advanced technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence and cloud computing were also applied in the "city brain".

"In case of emergencies such as typhoons, the system will send early warning information to more than 100,000 people at the same time by measures including text messages and phone calls," said Zeng Xiaoping, a "city brain" researcher.

If there's an alarm, the information of people that need to relocate as well as their relocation destinations will show on the platform, which will remarkably increase the risk disposition efficiency.

With the help of the "city brain," Nansha launched the first district-level COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control command system in Guangzhou in February 2020. Upgrades have also been made to the system this year, containing more information such as massive PCR tests, vaccination and designated quarantine hotels.
