Nansha releases 2020 IPR white paper

The 2020 Nansha intellectual property rights (IPR) development white paper was released by the Nansha bureau of market supervision on Aug 19.

The white paper is expected to strengthen local brand construction, support the development of patent navigation, increase the creation and application capacities of IPR as well as boost the innovative development of companies.

It put forward that the numbers of patent applications and grants have gained a remarkable increase from 2005 to 2019. The number of patent applications surged rapidly between 2015 and 2019 with an annual growth of 43.09 percent on average while the annual growth rate of patent grants during the same time period was 42.17 percent. 

The number of patent applications in Nansha district in 2020 totaled 11,439 and 44 percent of them were utility model patents with a total of 5,065.

Nansha companies have accounted for 76.52 percent of the total patent applications, which reached 26,910 from 2005 to 2019. The high ratio of local companies has to some extent ensured the efficiency of outcome transformation and boosted the economic growth.
