Nansha stands out in Guangzhou urban setting competition

Two urban designs in Guangzhou's Nansha district stood out at a competition held by the bureau of forestry and landscaping of Guangzhou municipality for urban flower design, local media outlets reported on July 17.

A total of 110 designs were submitted in the competition and Nansha district ranked top alongside Huangpu and Tianhe districts in terms of comprehensive performance.

The first of Nansha's designs, which showcases the district's livable environment on the west side of Jiaomen Station, won the gold medal and the award for being the most popular. The second, featuring a tropical island style at the intersection of Jibaosha North road and Qihang Road, won the silver award and the award for being the most popular.

The Jiaomen Station design integrates elements of eco-friendly, safety, health, sustainability and recycling. A lot of flowers are used in this setting, showcasing the charm of gardening and the beautiful landscape of Nansha.

The Jibaosha North Road and Qihang Road design displays a tropical island style that illustrates sunshine, the beach and cacti. Several tropical species are used in the setting, such as coreopsis.
