A statement was jointly announced by the Guangzhou municipal planning and natural resources bureau and the Nansha government on July 12 to solicit design plans all over the world for a demonstration area in Nansha to bring about innovative cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
Located in the southernmost region in Guangzhou, the demonstration area is situated at the intersection of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong technological innovation corridor and the Guangzhou-Zhuhai-Macao technological innovation corridor. It will also be a platform to showcase Guangzhou's charm.
The area has been designed to be a cradle for global advanced technological innovation, a main base for making breakthroughs in China's advanced manufacturing technologies, a new cluster for industrial growth in the future and a demonstration area for innovation in the modern service industry in the Greater Bay Area.
Covering a total area of around 71 square kilometers, it will have an intelligent manufacturing industrial park, a digital valley, a health valley and a city for marine technology.
Two major points of the overall design are achieving a carbon peak and greener development goals.
Six design institutions will be invited to participate in the final competition and three of them will be selected by votes. One out of the three will be able to carry out optimization and integration of the design plans with a reward of 2.6 million yuan ($401,707) and the other two will be rewarded 1.6 million yuan.
