The contract-signing, groundbreaking or completion of assorted major projects in Guangzhou's Nansha district were all marked with a collective ceremony on June 28.
A total of 76 major projects were included, covering various sectors such as the advanced manufacturing industry, the headquarters economy and urban retail. The total invested in these projects stands at 116 billion yuan ($18 billion) and their output value is set to exceed 230 billion yuan after they open.
It is expected that these projects will provide strong support for the high-quality economic development of Nansha and the construction of a demonstration zone for cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
This year, Nansha has started construction work on more than 100 projects with an overall investment of nearly 500 billion yuan. The district lured 14 new investment projects from Fortune Global 500 companies in the first five months of 2021, bringing the total number of projects funded by the aforementioned companies in the district to 211.
Hycan will build its automobile production base in Nansha's Dagang. Hycan, created by GAC and NIO, is positioned in the middle between the mainstream GAC and premium NIO.
Yang Ying, CEO of Hycan, said that the base in Nansha will perform functions such as stamping, welding, painting and assembly. It will be built into a modern unmanned demonstration factory.
