The main structure of the No 3 and No 4 lakes, part of Fenghuang Lake in Guangzhou's Nansha district, has been completed, local media outlets reported on June 23.

Fenghuang Lake, located at southeast of Dashanna in Nansha's Huangge town, was built out of six stone pits in the area. It will help to restore the local ecosystem and aid in flood discharge and water storage.

The person in charge of the project noted that the lake is expected to open to the public before the National Day holiday in October.

A floating bridge will be built on the No 3 and No 4 lakes, and the two lake areas will be connected via an underwater tunnel, making it easy to travel between the two.

An artificial waterfall will be built on the No 3 lake.

Fenghuang Lake will consist of six smaller lakes connected to each other as well as a wetland. Construction has finished on the No 2 lake, which is now open to the public, and construction will begin soon on lakes No 1, 5 and 6.
