A design plan for the waterfront area on Hengli Island in Guangzhou's Nansha district has begun to take shape, local media outlets reported on June 23.

A river running across the island from east to west will be used as the stage for several highlighted projects, including the subway park, the central park, a wetland park and the Pearl Bay cultural park.

The subway park will be built near Hengli Station on Guangzhou Metro Line 18, and the Pearl Bay cultural park will provide an ideal place for locals to relax and soak up the marine culture. The wetland park is set to offer an immersive experience for children, allowing them to learn more about wetland habitats.

These parks will also be connected via public transport links such as the water bus and metro lines.
