Guangzhou's Nansha has collected biological samples from 824,132 residents for nucleic acid testing purposes, and 212,000 results have been returned so far - with all of them coming back negative, according to Xie Ming, deputy head of the district, at a press conference on June 6.

All new confirmed cases and asymptomatic carrier in Nansha are family members of a local couple who visited a restaurant in Guangzhou's Liwan district to have dinner and might have been infected there.

The six family members who live together in Jia'an Garden have all been sent to Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital for quarantine and treatment.

Their travel history over the past 14 days has been traced using big data. A total of 93 close contacts and 280 sub-close contacts were identified during the preliminary investigation and put under centralized quarantine. Their residential areas and other key places they had visited were disinfected.

Three-tier epidemic management and control measures are in place in Nansha. Lockdown has been imposed in Jia'an Garden. People in areas east of Lingxin Avenue, south of Gongye Road Alley One, north of Liuyong, and Building 20 of Yuexiu Binhai New Town are forbidden from exiting or gathering. Residents of other areas are advised to avoid going out unless necessary.
