The Innovation Education College of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area unveiled its plaque on May 31 in the Nansha International Talent Port.

XJTLU, based in Jiangsu's Suzhou, is an international joint venture university founded by Xi'an Jiaotong University in China and the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom.

The establishment of the college in Nansha marks the start of XJTLU's development of a new educational model.

XJTLU's latest project symbolizes the idea that universities should be further opened up, in order to better integrate with society and make full use of their various resources.

"The higher-level development of the Greater Bay Area is highly consistent with XJTLU's current development concept," said Xi Youmin, executive president of XJTLU.

The college is expected to closely integrate education, industry and innovation to make more contributions to turning the Greater Bay Area into a global scientific innovation center. It will have six platforms such as the technology center, the tutors' center and a makers' cluster zone.

The first phase of the college will include four projects, namely: the XJTLU-IPwe IP+ Institute, the XJTLU University-Industry Ecosystem Institute, the XJTLU Academy of Future Education and the XJTLU Hexie Academy.

The XJTLU-IPwe IP+ Institute will be jointly built by XJTLU and IPwe. It will be the first step taken by IPwe towards entering the Greater Bay Area.

Headquartered in France, IPwe is a patented fintech company which has set up institutes in other areas including Japan, Singapore, Shandong's Qingdao and Zhejiang's Hangzhou.

The IP institute will build platforms such as the Greater Bay Area's global IP data center, an international technology transfer center, a research center and a think tank for international IP ecology.
