Guangzhou's Nansha district is expecting a lychee harvest in late June this year, Guangzhou Daily reported on May 31.

"The weather was relatively dry and cold during this year's flowering period, which was good for pollination," said He Yonghui, chairman of Nansha lychee association. "Therefore, we will see a harvest for lychee this year and the overall lychee production of all members of our association is estimated to be around 150,000 kilograms."

He added that the peak time for Guiwei lychee, a widely-planted variety of lychee in Nansha, will arrive in mid-to-late June.

The association has launched a WeChat mini-program to boost local lychee sales and help local farmers gain more income this year. People can reserve and purchase local high-quality lychees on the mini-program and the prices on the mini-program will change in response to market demand.

"Currently, our association has 67 local members and we will visit them to pick the best lychees for sale on the mini-program," added He.

He introduced that lychees sold via the mini-program will be delivered by SF Express and customers in Guangzhou can receive their lychees within one day.
