The plaque unveiling ceremony for the Guangzhou Institute of Traditional South Chinese Medicine was held on May 22 in Guangzhou's Nansha district.

The institute is located in the Sinochem Agricultural Science City in Guangzhou Seed and Breeding Industry Town, and will focus on outcomes spanning the protection of traditional Chinese medicine resources and the incubation of scientific research findings and their industrial development. It will also strive to become a platform for the integrated development of enterprises, universities, research institutes and patients.

Several projects are now under construction in the institute, such as an ecological plantation base for traditional south Chinese medicine and a resource trading platform for traditional south Chinese medicine.

It is expected that the establishment of the institute will boost the effective protection, sustainable development and utilization of traditional south Chinese medicine. In addition, the aggregation of high-quality resources including experts, talents and companies will help push forward the growth of the traditional south Chinese medicine industry in Nansha.

An official from Nansh's agriculture and rural affairs bureau noted that, in recent years, the district has been devoting efforts towards carrying out innovative reforms, luring high-tech agricultural companies and offering high-quality services for local companies.
