Geely Technology Group has signed a contract with Guangzhou's Nansha district to set up its only China-based aerospace business headquarters in the district.

The agreement was signed during the Nansha session of the seventh Guangzhou Annual Investment Conference on March 30.

Geely's headquarters in Nansha will team up with other companies in the area such as CAS Space Exploration to turn Nansha into a new growth center for China's aerospace sector and to establish a whole industry chain featuring rockets, satellites and downstream applications.

Geely's project in Nansha is expected to have an overall production scale of more than 10 billion yuan ($1.52 billion).

During the event, Nansha welcomed four batches of major projects with an overall contracted investment of 264.8 billion yuan. These projects cover various sectors such as strategic emerging industries, advanced manufacturing, shipping, logistics, the headquarters economy, financial services, modern agriculture and urban infrastructure construction.

Projects featuring cutting-edged technologies and products such as surgical robots and intelligent automated guided vehicles were signed, aiming to push forward Nansha's scientific innovation capabilities and promoting the intelligent, digital and green upgrading of advantageous traditional industries.

Efforts have also been made in the integrated development of industry and cities, with projects such as waterfront business streets in the Pearl Bay being inked during the event.
