The first 13 of Nansha's major projects for 2021 started construction on March 8, as a prelude to work beginning on 202 major projects in the district.
A total of 202 projects worth 626.45 billion yuan ($96.03 billion) are listed as Nansha's major projects for 2021, and 91.06 billion yuan of that investment will be made this year.
These projects mainly cover four areas, namely: major infrastructure, modern industry, people's livelihoods and urban renovation.
Dong Ke, mayor of Nansha district, said that Nansha has achieved remarkable outcomes in high-quality development in 2020, despite the complex situations at home and abroad and the great impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A person in charge of the Nansha commerce bureau said that 10 of the 13 projects starting construction have been newly-introduced to the district by the bureau.
A total of 59 projects with an overall investment of 266.16 billion yuan are related to major infrastructure, such as the first phase of Guangzhou Metro Line 18, the Guangzhou section of Shenzhen-Maoming railway, and the fourth phase of Nansha Port.
By the end of June, more than 80 major projects are scheduled to finish construction or start operation including the expansion project of GAC Toyota's new energy vehicles, the intelligent industrial park of Guangdong Aofei Data Technology, and the Nansha branch of Zhixin High School.
