The number of tourists to Guangzhou's Nansha district has recovered to the level it was at before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the area welcoming around 831,700 visitors during the week-long Spring Festival holiday from Feb 11 and Feb 17.

A special lighting show was staged in Nansha during the holiday to entertain local residents and those who chose to stay in the district instead of heading back their hometowns, creating a strong festive atmosphere.

The show, making full use of sound and lighting technologies, chose Nansha Library, the new district's landmark, as its main backdrop. Elements from traditional Chinese culture representing the Spring Festival were highlighted during the show, such as "fu" - the Chinese character for good luck - an auspicious cloud, red lanterns, firecrackers and a golden ox.
