The container vessel Far East Grace being operated by China United Lines Ltd, or CULines, docked at Nansha Port in South China's Guangdong province on Dec 26, marking the official launch of the new express shipping route that runs from Nansha to Vietnam.
Port officials said the number of direct shipping routes between Nansha and Vietnam's port city of Haiphong has been increased to nine.
They said the new shipping route is being independently operated by CULines. Ships running on the route depart from Nansha and arrive in Haiphong in four days via Shenzhen's Shekou. The return trip only takes three days for ships sailing directly from Haiphong.
Officials said the new route is expected to offer convenient and regular inshore shipping services for customers in Nansha and Southeast Asia.
They said it will feature excellent logistics to facilitate exports of Nansha-sourced products such as clothing, home appliances and building materials -- and for imports of Vietnamese products including agricultural products, finished paper and raw plastic materials.
