In Guangzhou, 59,243 test COVID negative

In Guangzhou, Guangdong province, government departments in Nansha district have conducted coronavirus tests for 59,243 people, with all results coming back negative as of 11 am on Monday.

The tests were undertaken after a 31-year-old local woman surnamed Wu was diagnosed as an asymptomatic COVID-19 patient on Sunday.

According to a statement released on Monday by the Nansha district department of publicity, no evidence indicates the coronavirus is spreading locally after Wu's case was confirmed.

Wu was sent to the city's No 8 People's Hospital, a designated hospital for COVID-19 patients, for further medical observation and treatment. She is currently in stable condition, the statement said.

The group tested for coronavirus includes 131 people who had very close contact with Wu, including a local quarantine hotel worker and three of her family members, the statement said.

Meanwhile, officials have launched a further epidemiological investigation in areas where Wu works and lives. All public venues that Wu visited have been disinfected, the statement said.

Wu, a native of Guangdong, now lives in Dongchong township in Nansha district, located at the mouth of the Pearl River.

Wu had a positive nucleic acid test result in a routine examination on Sunday. She was later diagnosed as an asymptomatic COVID-19 patient who was related to confirmed imported cases.
