To date, Guangdong is home to nine general airports in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Yangjiang, Zhanjiang, and Yunfu. Another 48 general airports will be built in the prosperous cities in the Pearl River Delta, as well as the eastern, western and northern parts of the province.

Of note, a general airport layout centered around Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai will take shape in the Pearl River Delta for business, urban patrol, emergency response, leisure and entertainment, as well as flight training. It will further boost the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's efforts in becoming a world-class city cluster.
