Nansha to host cultural tourism events

The third Guangzhou roundtable conference on the development of the cruise industry is scheduled to be held in Guangzhou's Nansha district from Oct 29 to 30, officials announced during a press conference held by the Nansha culture, radio, TV, tourism, and sports bureau on Oct 26.

The date for the 12th Mazu Cultural Tourism Festival was also announced during the press conference, with the festival scheduled to be held from Oct 30 to Nov 1 after being postponed earlier due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Nansha is expected to integrate Mazu culture, a local intangible cultural heritage, and cruise marine culture to realize the inheritance and innovation of intangible cultural heritages, as well as to boost the integration between the cruise industry and the local tourism economy. 

It is expected that the roundtable conference will help more cruise companies consider setting Nansha as a home port and visiting port, allowing passengers on board to enjoy a short trip to Nansha, which would generate considerable more income for Nansha's tourism industry.

The roundtable conference will focus on the outlook and planning of the cruise market in the South China region in the post-pandemic era, carrying out discussions on pressing issues spanning the development opportunities of the cruise industry in South China, the cultivation of the cruise industry chain in Guangzhou, as well as measures to ensure the safety of passengers.

The 12th Mazu Cultural Tourism Festival will feature various kinds of highlights, such as the creative fair integrating tourism and poverty alleviation, Mazu cultural forums, as well as brand-new cultural innovative products on Mazu culture.
