CAS Space Exploration will build a manufacturing base for solid rockets integrating a variety of functions, namely research and development, manufacturing, experiments, as well as final assembly and testing, in Guangzhou's Nansha district.

The mobilization meeting of the construction of the base took place in Sept 29, announcing that the first phase of the base is scheduled to be put into official operation in 2022.

The base is expected to produce 30 solid rocket products a year, as well as attract upstream and downstream companies from related industries to settle down in the area, such as R&D in aerospace power and satellites.

CAS Space Exploration was set up in 2018 by core technical teams from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Currently, the company is working on the R&D of the 1.5 metric ton carrier rocket, which will be the largest solid rocket in China after completing its scheduled trial operation in 2021.
