The first phase of Wanglaoji's big health base in Guangzhou's Nansha district started construction on Sept 29, aiming to become the manufacturing base for Wanglaoji herbal tea and the company's largest flagship factory.

Covering a total area of 196 mu (1306.67 hectares), the first phase of the base has an investment of about 750 million yuan ($110.13 million). It will apply green manufacturing systems to become a demonstration area in developing the green environmentally friendly ecological industry.

The base will set up two fully automatic production lines with advanced technologies and equipment for the canning of Wanglaoji herbal tea. Each line will be able to produce an average of 36,000 cans per hour.

The annual production of the base is expected to reach 18 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), with the annual production value expected to amount to around 1.3 billion yuan, directly meeting the demands in the independent supply of canned herbal tea in South China.

Wanglaoji's general research institute on big health will be built in the base, aiming to become a leading research and development base for big health in China.

Zheng Rongbo, deputy general manager of Guangzhou Wanglaoji Great Health Industry Corp, said that the base can not only increase production and supply capacity, but also boost the regional development of Wanglaoji in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, offering strong support for the company's international development.

Zhou Muliang, deputy director of the Nansha commerce bureau, said that the construction of the base in Nansha will push forward the development of areas spanning employment, transportation, and the service industry, as well as help Nansha become a new cluster for modern industry in the Greater Bay Area.
