Guangzhou's Nansha district has gained great momentum in developing medical its health industry as the district will have seven 3A-grade hospitals in the future, the highest of China's three-tier grading system for public hospitals.
The Guangzhou Nansha Central Hospital of Guangzhou First People's Hospital celebrated the 14th anniversary of its establishment on Sept 27, while the construction of the hospital's second-phase project has been pushing forward to improve its conditions and upgrade its medical service capabilities.
It has been outlined that Nansha will be built into a sub-center for medical health service in Guangzhou and that high-end medical service institutions will be established in the district.
A total of six 3A-grade hospitals have been newly introduced into Nansha, such as the First Affiliated (Nansha) Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, the Nansha branch of the Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, as well as the Nansha branch of the Cancer Center of Guangzhou Medical University.
Nansha is now planning to build a hub for international high-end medicine featuring various aspects spanning medical treatment, preservation, teaching, scientific research, and tourism. The First Affiliated (Nansha) Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University will be set as the core of the city and several specialized hospital will also be available.
The number of patient beds in 3A-grade hospitals at or above the municipal level will exceed 5,160 in the future, while the number of patient beds of hospitals subordinated to Nansha district will be 3,358, meeting the medical demands of local residents.
The health bureau of Nansha district has invested 56.9 million yuan ($8.34 million) to build a regional medical and health information interconnection system to offer high-quality medical services to the public.
