The First Affiliated (Nansha) Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University has finished construction of its main structure and is expected to be put into operation by the end of May 2021.
The construction of the hospital, which has an investment of around 3.85 billion yuan ($563.97 million), started in July 2018.
The hospital has been designed to be an international-level 3A-grade hospital, the highest of China's three-tier grading system for public hospitals. It will cover a total area of 156,000 square meters and a building area of 506,000 sq m.
It will integrate various functions spanning outpatient and emergency services, scientific and medical research, teaching, as well as rehabilitation services, offering 1,500 patient beds.
The construction of the hospital has fully applied the concept of sustainable development and green architecture, striving to turn the hospital into a new cluster for medical scientific research in Nansha and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
After it begins operations, the hospital is expected to bring benefits to people in the Greater Bay Area and South China, as well as showcase Nansha's academic strengths.
