The landscape improvement project for the southern part of the Jiaomen River has passed the acceptance inspection, marking a new step forward for Nansha's environmental upgrading initiatives.
Starting from Fengze Bridge to Jiaoxi Sluice, the project covered a total area of about 13.6 hectares and a water area of around 14.9 hectares.
In the project, the north coast of the Jiaomen River was decorated with forests, grasslands, flowers, and a mangrove forest, while the south coast was designed as a waterfront relaxation area, featuring willows, lotus flowers, and shoals.
In addition, the northern part of the Jiaomen River will carry out further renovations, such as optimizing the infrastructure of the ecological corridors, setting up guide boards, as well as applying the "sponge city" concept.
Nansha has achieved remarkable outcomes in its environmental upgrading initiatives. The water quality of the Jiaomen River has seen improvements in the first half of 2020 and the district ranked third among all districts in Guangzhou in terms of air quality from January to June this year.
