The ro-ro wharf for automobiles in the Nansha international automobile logistics industrial park of Guangzhou Port on Nansha's Shazai Island, also known as Haijia Wharf, passed acceptance on Aug 31 and will soon be put into operation.
The construction of Haijia Wharf, a major project in Guangzhou's efforts to build an international comprehensive transportation hub, started in June 2017 and was finished in May 2020.
It is expected that the wharf can meet the rapidly growing demand in automobile logistics in Guangdong province and the Pearl River Delta, as well as give full play to Nansha Port's influence to hinterland economic development.
After Haijia Wharf starts operation, Nansha Port will have five special ro-ro berths for automobile logistics, 1.1 kilometers of wharf frontage, and 619,000 square meters in storage yards for commercial automobiles. The annual handling capacity of commercial automobiles at Shazai Island will exceed 1.8 million, making the area the largest automobile wharf cluster in China.
The international automobile logistics industrial park on Shazai Island aims to integrate various functions spanning automobile ro-ro logistics, exhibition, marketing, and comprehensive service, striving to become a major channel for the export of finished automobiles for South China and Southwest China.
