The comprehensive improvement project of the east section of Jinzhouchong in Guangzhou's Nansha district opened for bids on Aug 8.
The project, located in the central area of the district's Nansha community, is about 3.2 kilometers long and covers a total water area and nearby green area of 458.87 mu (30.59 hectares).
The project will be built in order to mitigate the worst flooding in 50 years. Concepts such as a 'sponge city' will also be integrated into the development to improve the water quality in the river.
The construction is scheduled to finish in 360 days, and will include dredging of river channels, expanding shores, building a watertight retaining structure at the starting point of Jinzhouchong at Jingang Avenue, building an ecological embankment and landscape on both sides of the river, as well as building a 63,700 square meter garden.
The maximum amount available for the bidding is 70.7 million yuan ($10.21 million)
