The scientific innovation communication center in Nansha Science City is due to begin its official operation by the end of August, becoming the first public building to have finished construction in Mingzhu Science Park of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Covering an overall planning area of 99 square kilometers, Nansha Science City aims to push forward innovation and cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao through institutional innovation, attracting global innovation resources and establishing a hub for global opening up and innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
"The communication center is a place for the exchange of regional advanced scientific research, as well as the research and development of cutting-edge technologies. It is also an important center for showcasing Guangzhou and CAS's efforts in building a science city at a world-leading level to the public," said Lin Yan, senior architect of the Architectural Design and Research Institute of South China University of Technology.

"We designed a community park on the first floor of the center to build an open public space for people to carry out communication," added Lin.
"Different from traditional enclosed museums, the center integrates indoor and outdoor spaces. We have also hidden a lot of steel columns in construction to make way for exhibition space," said Lin.
The operation of the center is expected to further attract scientific research institutes and high-end innovation platforms from home and abroad to cluster in the area.
