2 Nansha companies lauded for technological innovation

Two companies in Guangzhou's Nansha district have been listed as China's leading technological innovation companies according to the list released during a press conference on China's high-growth companies on July 28, as well as the list launched by ranking agency Hurun and Suzhou New District on Aug 4.

The two companies are CloudWalk Technology Co Ltd and Pony.ai.

The title of China's leading technological innovation companies refers to those with a business valuation of more than $1 billion and that were set up within the past 10 or 20 years. They should also have received private investment, yet haven't been listed. 

A total of 11 companies were awarded the title at the press conference on China's high-growth companies, while eight companies were on the list by Hurun and SND.

CloudWalk Technology Co Ltd, an artificial intelligence technological company subordinated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has achieved great outcomes in developing person re-identification (ReID) and has broken several global records. 

Pony.ai, one of the most valuable autonomous driving startups in China, has quickly developed into an industry leader and has launched multiple autonomous driving fleets to the public across the globe.

James Peng, CEO of Pony.ai, said during a previous interview that the reason why the company settled in Nansha was because of the great local entrepreneurial atmosphere and the solid support from the government.
