Nansha Bridge is expected to be fully covered by 5G networks before the end of 2020, according to an implementation plan released by the Department of Transportation of Guangdong Province on July 13.

The plan focused on covering all highways in the province with 5G network and carrying out demonstrative applications, aiming to push forward the deep integration and application development between 5G technologies and the transportation industry.

The plan noted that 5G base stations will be located one kilometer from each other and nearly 120 stations will be built or renovated.

The bridge, which was the first innovative mega-project to begin service after the launch of the outline development plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, is 12.89 km in length and goes across the west and east side of the Pearl River, linking Guangzhou and Dongguan.
