The construction for Shrewsbury School's project in Guangzhou's Nansha district started on July 13, aiming to become a demonstration for high-level international education and to promote education development in the district.
Founded in 1552 in the United Kingdom, Shrewsbury School is one of the most outstanding independent schools in the UK with a world-class reputation for all-round excellence. It was also the alma mater of British naturalist Charles Darwin.
Currently, Shrewsbury School has only set up three branches in China, namely in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou.

The project in Nansha, which has an overall investment of 475 million yuan ($67.82 million), will finish construction by the end of 2021 and start enrollment focusing on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in 2022.
Located in Nansha's Pearl Bay, the school will be able to enroll 1,800 students in four stages from kindergarten through primary school, junior middle school, and senior high school.
The school covers a total area of 77,360 square meters and has a building area of 90,401 sq m. A five-floor main teaching building will be built, with a building area of 40,159 sq m.
