Located at the estuary of the Humen, Jiaomen, Hongqimen, and Hengmen waterways, Nansha is bestowed with advantageous aquaculture resources. The district's aquaculture breeding areas reached 103,300 mu (6,887 hectares) in 2019, accounting for 30 percent of Guangzhou's total. Its aquaculture output value, which was recorded at 3.79 billion yuan ($535.53 million) last year, ranked first in the city.
