The architectural design plan for the permanent site of the International Finance Forum (IFF) was unveiled and further discussed during an international expert review meeting held in Nansha district on May 15.

Outstanding experts from both home and abroad, such as Wang Jianguo, He Jingtang, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and French architect Ali Dehbonei, participated in the meeting.

The architectural design plan, chosen from an international competition in 2019, was made by Beijing Institute of Architectural Design and Tongji Architectural Design (Group) Co Ltd.

The project has currently finished the early-stage preparations and the construction for the site is expected to be finished in October 2022.

The site is expected to be able to meet the various needs for activities like international meetings, exhibitions, and other commercial events. One highlight is that the main venue of the site is able to hold 3,000 people at the same time.

Experts highly praised the design plan of the site as its architectural style looks like a kapok in full bloom, fully showcasing Nansha's cultural charms.

"The design plan is very creative as the site is both beautiful and useful. It has successfully represented the highest technological development level of China's construction industry and can be considered as an attraction in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area," said Fan Zhong, one of the designers of the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing.

The project in Nansha costs about 3.5 billion yuan ($491.97 million) in overall investment and the construction is expected to be completed in about 30 months since its groundbreaking ceremony was held in November 2019.
