Ecological farm at Maofeng Mountain opens to public
Yingjili Farm, located at the foot of Guangzhou's Maofeng Mountain, will soon open to the public free of charge. Spanning over 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares), this pristine ecological farm integrates animal viewing, agricultural experiences, and natural exploration, making it a hidden gem for weekend family outings.
The farm is not so different from a small zoo: African ostriches over 2 meters tall and weighing nearly 90.7 kilograms spread their broad wings to greet visitors, while emus stroll leisurely in small groups. Green-headed ducks frolic in streams, and lush vegetable fields thrive alongside locally cultivated pineapples. The farm is also home to 50 rare and high-quality Congjiang fragrant pigs, known for their tender meat and pure genetics, in an enclosure designed to imitate a natural habitat.
Founded by Fang Xiaowen, a renowned entrepreneur featured on the Hurun Rich List, the farm was revitalized in 2022 through Guangdong-Guizhou cooperation. It now serves as the "Congjiang Fragrant Pig Greater Bay Area Sales and Assistance Demonstration Base", boosting incomes for farmers in Guizhou. Currently, the farm houses 480 pigs and produces over 1,000 marketable pigs annually. Through a partnership with Yuexiu Group, the pigs are supplied to major supermarkets in Guangzhou, establishing the farm as a premium local meat supplier.
Looking ahead, the farm plans to integrate more agricultural, cultural, and tourism resources, seeking to become a comprehensive agritourism destination. Free visits are now available by appointment, with interactive educational activities to be introduced soon. These initiatives will allow children to walk among crops, observe animals up close, and learn about agriculture in a natural setting.
