Registrations are now open for the inaugural Maofeng Mountain Hill Climb Challenge, part of the 2025 "Passionate National Games, Cycling in Baiyun" event series.

The competition is scheduled for Dec 28 in Baishan village, Taihe town, Guangzhou's Baiyun district, within the Maofeng Mountain scenic area.

Renowned for its lush forest coverage and excellent air quality, Maofeng Mountain is celebrated as a "natural oxygen bar". The race course integrates the historic "Thousand-Step Ladder" trail, cultural landmarks such as the ancient temple, and picturesque countryside scenery.

The event features three categories: an Elite Competitive Group (150 men and 150 women, 128 yuan ($18.21 per person)) for timed ranking and speed; a Recreational Experience Group (200 participants, 99 yuan per person) for non-timed checkpoint riding; and a Family Experience Group (200 families, 188 yuan per family) offering a dedicated route with interactive tasks. The top eight finishers in the Elite Group will receive cash prizes and awards, while participants in the other categories who complete the course will be awarded finisher medals.

Registrations are now open. The first 200 registrants will receive a custom cycling water bottle, and group registrations are eligible for discounts. The event will also feature on-site activities, including BMX performances, street dance, and family interaction segments. The competition aims to combine extreme challenge, ecological wellness, and cultural exploration, promoting the development of rural culture and tourism.
