Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway enters trial operation phase
The Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway entered its trial operation phase on Nov 26, with trains running from Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station to Zhanjiang North Railway Station, marking the final countdown to the line's official opening.
This railway extends for 401 kilometers and is designed for speeds of up to 350 km/h. It traverses seven cities — Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing, Yunfu, Yangjiang, Maoming, and Zhanjiang — and features 10 stations along the route.

During the trial operation phase, comprehensive tests will be conducted, including train schedule parameter testing, fault simulations, and emergency response drills, to provide a scientific basis for the formal commencement of operations. Once completed, the railway will reduce travel time between Guangzhou and Zhanjiang from the current three hours to just 1.5 hours, greatly improving transportation convenience for the western Guangdong region.
As a vital link connecting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with the Hainan Free Trade Port and the Beibu Gulf urban cluster, the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway will enhance connectivity between western Guangdong and the Greater Bay Area. This project is highly significant for accelerating transportation integration within Guangdong province and for promoting regional economic development.
The railway traverses complex geological terrain, with bridges and tunnels accounting for 76.8 percent of its total length. Key engineering projects along the route include the Zhanjiang Bay Subsea Tunnel and the Foshan Super Major Bridge.
