Bamiyan mountain's cypress trees set for stunning autumn transformation

Updated : November 25, 2025

Bald cypress trees around Guangdong Reservoir, at Guangzhou's Bamiyan Mountain Scenic Area, are beginning to turn golden. The annual color transformation is expected to reach its peak next week.

From now through mid-January, visitors can witness the spectacular transition as the feathery leaves shift from emerald green to vibrant gold and warm orange-red tones. This seasonal spectacle turns the lakeside into a living painting, where "every tree wears autumn colors, and every hill glows with sunset hues."

Visitors are advised to wear light-colored clothing and visit on sunny days for the best photo results. Low-angle shots with natural lighting can beautifully capture the scene's poetic atmosphere.

The Guangdong Reservoir in the Minguk Lake area is accessible with a 20-minute walk from the West Gate, or by taking the scenic shuttle bus. Alternatively, visitors can enter through the Bamboo Garden Gate, just 10 minutes on foot from the reservoir.

Multiple bus routes serve the Bamiyan Mountain West Gate station, with a special shuttle bus available from Bamiyan Cultural Square Metro Station (Exit B) on weekends. Drivers can conveniently use the West Gate parking lot (approximately 500 spaces).

Don't miss this fleeting natural masterpiece — the perfect opportunity to capture Bamiyan Mountain's autumn magic.
