Rowing events conclude at 15th National Games
The rowing competitions of the 15th National Games concluded on Nov 11 at the Guangdong International Rowing Center.
The event, which began on Nov 6, lasted five days and featured over 600 athletes from 23 teams across the country. After intense preliminary, semifinal, and final rounds, champions were determined in 16 disciplines.
On the final day, eight events were held, including the men's and women's double sculls. The Guangdong Sports Lottery Rowing Team delivered an outstanding performance, with the duo Ni Xulin and Nie Yide winning the men's double sculls final in 4 minutes 36.49 seconds. Their victory secured the first gold medal for the host province after the opening ceremony and contributed to Guangdong's total haul of one gold, five silver, and one bronze medals.
Nie stated that the pair had trained rigorously for a year with the goal of winning the championship and expressed hopes of achieving a podium finish at future Asian Games. Veteran rower Ni hinted that this race might mark the end of his career.
The event showcased the athletes' dedication and technical prowess, concluding with enthusiastic support from spectators. All winning teams and participants were congratulated, highlighting the unity and inspiration fostered by competitive sports.
