The 12th National Exhibition of Chinese Gongbi Art is currently on display at the Guangdong Academy of Painting in Guangzhou until Nov 9. This marks the largest tour in history, featuring over 200 outstanding works from the inaugural show, along with nearly 90 specially invited pieces by contemporary masters and around 100 works from a parallel exhibition.
At the same time, another distinctive exhibition, Thus Spoke the Butterfly, runs from Oct 22 to Nov 11 on the B1 floor of the Design Palace Art Center. This exhibit features a series of figurative paintings by artist Guo Qing, where the depiction of her figures' appearances and postures challenge conventional perceptions. Using a unique visual language, she explores the blending and transformation of inner landscapes, incorporating elements like floating clouds, mirrors that reflect the self, fluttering butterflies, and punch-ward toys filled with metaphors of strength. These components create multiple immersive and interactive scenes.
