Guangdong slalom venue upgraded for 15th National Games

Having previously hosted events like the 9th National Games and Asian Games, the venue now boasts an intelligent, eco-friendly, international-standard course. The track utilizes a 4-meter natural elevation drop from the Liuxi River to create its water flow system. Newly added water storage pipelines ensure supply during dry seasons, while a pioneering smart conveyor belt system cuts athletes' post-race return time by five to eight minutes.
The venue optimizes natural ventilation through a north-south layout and features a "solar PV + green roof" garden atop the training building for self-sufficient energy. Thirteen surrounding roads have undergone environmental improvements, with under-bridge spaces transformed into public leisure areas.
The spectator stand, adjacent to Migang village, will be repurposed into a community sports park after the Games. The Guangdong canoe slalom team is currently undergoing intensive "dual-track" (water and land) training, with a test event set to kick off on Aug 21 as a prelude to the Games.
