Baiyun ranked among China's top 100 districts
CCID Consulting has released the 2025 China Urban District High-Quality Development Research Report, in which Baiyun district has once again been listed among China's top 100 districts, ranking 32nd.
The evaluation set thresholds of a regional GDP exceeding 800 billion yuan ($111.28 billion) and general public budget revenue surpassing 20 billion yuan, assessing districts across five dimensions, including economic strength and growth drivers. This year, the top 100 districts accounted for 16.7 percent of China's GDP while occupying just 0.6 percent of the nation's land area, highlighting their robust economic momentum.
Baiyun delivered an outstanding economic performance in 2024, with its GDP exceeding 315.6 billion yuan, ranking fourth in Guangzhou. Its 5.2 percent growth rate was the city's second-highest, and it contributed the most to Guangzhou's overall economic expansion. The district's industrial clusters achieved a total scale exceeding 700 billion yuan, with the cosmetics industry surpassing 60 billion yuan, and emerging industries such as new energy storage experienced rapid growth.
In the first half of this year, Baiyun has led Guangzhou in economic growth, achieving a regional GDP of 153.2 billion yuan – a 5.3 percent year-on-year increase, marking an impressive acceleration in development.
