New progress made on Guangzhou station connections
Tianyou, a large shield tunneling machine, has commenced operations in Guangzhou, marking a crucial milestone for the Guangzhou Station-Guangzhou South Station Link Project. With this, all three shield tunneling machines are now operational, marking the project's entry into the critical stage of constructing underground tunnels along the entire line.
Stretching 16.07 kilometers with a designed speed of 200 km per hour, the line is a vital artery connecting Guangzhou Station and Guangzhou South Station that will alleviate transportation pressure in the Guangzhou hub.

Xilang Tunnel, a key control project, is a 4,200-meter task characterized by complex geological conditions and significant construction challenges that the Tianyou shield tunneling machine will undertake.
The project team has enhanced operational efficiency and safety standards by innovatively applying coordinated lifting techniques and upgrading the muck removal system.
As a critical project in the country's efforts to promote the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the link will connect multiple core hubs, reducing travel time between Guangzhou South Station and Guangzhou Station to approximately 15 minutes.
