Updated : June 6, 2025

On June 4, China released the first batch of key cultivation lists for traditional advantageous food production areas and local specialty food industries, with 39 entries including Guangzhou-style Liangcha. Baiyun district falls within the main geographical scope of these traditional advantageous production areas.

Guangzhou-style Liangcha, despite its name including "tea", is crafted from Chinese herbal medicines through a unique brewing process. It is named so to navigate the cultural sensitivities associated with the term "medicine". Various types of Liangcha, composed of a unique blend of herbs, provide specific health benefits and represent the traditional wisdom of the Cantonese culture, which has been preserved for thousands of years. Enjoyed in all seasons, this beverage is often referred to as the "lifeline drink" of the Cantonese people.

Additionally, Baiyun is home to the Guangzhou Shennong Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum, which features a dedicated WALOVI Liangcha Museum. Visitors can immerse themselves in the culture of Liangcha here.

Guangzhou-style Liangcha is not just a beverage; it represents the Cantonese people's pursuit of health and their love for traditional culture. Baiyun welcomes everyone to visit and experience this unique flavor.
