Baiyun shines at Guangzhou Dragon Boat Race
Baiyun district achieved remarkable success at the 2025 Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament held on June 1 along the Pearl River. This year marked the 40th anniversary of the event, which featured 116 dragon boat teams and over 4,000 athletes.

The competition included a 600-meter straight-line sprint for 22-person dragon boats across four categories, in addition to traditional dragon boat races and various display events. Baiyun district fielded 16 teams, comprising over 400 athletes, with five teams advancing to the finals.
The Renhe Town Renhe Liucun Village Dragon Boat Team excelled in the Men's Open category, securing first place and reclaiming the title after previous victories in 2019 and 2023. Two representative teams from Chaolong village in Songzhou sub-district reached the semi-finals, with one team finishing in sixth place in the finals.
In the Women's Open category, the Yagang Women's Dragon Boat Team from Shimen sub-district and the Xiamao Women's Dragon Boat Team from Baiyun Lake Street secured fifth and sixth places respectively. The Xiamao Women's Dragon Boat Team, referred to themselves as the "Grandma Squad", with the oldest member being 60 years old.
Furthermore, several teams from Baiyun also showcased impressive performances in traditional dragon boats, colorful dragons, and decorative dragon display events. These outstanding presentations highlighted the vibrancy and strength of dragon boat sports in Baiyun.
