The southern extension of the Guangqing Intercity Railway has seen new progress, with the unveiling of Baiyun Lake Railway Station located west of the East Lake in Baiyun Lake Park.

This line runs through Baiyun and Huadu districts, starting from the Baiyun Lake Railway Station intercity yard, with planned stops at Baiyun Lake Railway Station, Jianggao Station, Shenshan Station, and Guangzhou North Station, set to open this year.

The interior decoration of Baiyun Lake Railway Station is progressing rapidly, with platforms and escalators on both sides already installed.

The Baiyun Lake Railway Station Access Road (Phase II) project of the Guangqing Intercity Railway will construct two municipal roads and a pedestrian overpass, with a total investment of 43.17 million yuan ($6 million), scheduled to start in June and be completed by December.

Once the southern extension of the Guangqing Intercity Railway becomes operational, the travel duration from Guangzhou North Station to Guangzhou Baiyun Station will be reduced to 15 minutes. The commute from Qingyuan to Guangzhou Baiyun Station will only require 30 minutes.

It will further connect the central areas of Guangzhou with the core areas of Qingyuan, providing strong transportation support for the integrated development of Guangzhou and Qingyuan.
