This project is a crucial railway mainline connecting Guangzhou Railway Station and Guangzhou South Railway Station, spanning a total length of 16.07 kilometers with a designed speed of 200 km per hour. The planned investment is 8.22 billion yuan ($1.12 billion), covering a land area of 13.28 hectares along the route.
The completion of the interconnection line is expected to alleviate transportation pressure at the Guangzhou hub, enhancing the overall capacity of regional traffic.
Once operational, the travel time between the two stations will be reduced to just 15 minutes, and direct access to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station within one hour will be achieved, facilitating the influx of passengers from the southern part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into the central area of Guangzhou.
This project aims to establish interconnections between Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station and other transit hubs, as well as various high-speed rail and intercity lines, including those currently under planning. It is essential to optimize the capabilities of the diverse passenger stations within the Guangzhou railway hub to enhance the overall organization of transportation services.
