Baiyun airport achieves breakthrough in intl routes
On March 30, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport marked a breakthrough in international routes. Air Astana from Kazakhstan and VietJet Air from Vietnam inaugurated three direct international flights to Baiyun Airport on the same day.
Air Astana launched a direct flight from Almaty to Guangzhou with flight number KC187/8, departing from Almaty on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays and arriving in Guangzhou early morning. The return flight operates from Guangzhou on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Mondays.
Since November 10, 2023, China and Kazakhstan have implemented a mutual visa waiver, facilitating connectivity between the South China region, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Central Asia through this new route.

VietJet Air introduced dual routes from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Guangzhou, with daily round-trip flights, enhancing the connectivity between Vietnam's economic hubs and the Greater Bay Area.
This year has witnessed the rise of "China Travel", a new trend that integrates aviation and cultural tourism. Supported by favorable policies such as visa-free transit, Baiyun Airport has undertaken significant expansions to its international route network. This includes the introduction of new routes, the resumption of previously suspended routes, and the enhancement of flight frequency for several international passenger services.
Additionally, Terminal 3 will be operational this year, designed to accommodate an annual passenger throughput of 30 million. Upon completing and operating the third-phase expansion project, Baiyun Airport will become the world's largest single-terminal airport.
