Xiaomao mango tree celebrates glorious flowering season
Recently, the Xiaomao mango tree in Xiamao village, Baiyun Lake sub-district, has entered its peak flowering period.
Despite experiencing 300 years of vicissitudes, this ancient Xiaomao mango tree remains vibrant, with a full crown of tender yellow flowers clustered on its branches, emitting a fragrant aroma throughout the surroundings. The villagers are delighted by the abundant blossoms on the tree and eagerly anticipate a bountiful harvest.
Early this year, the Xiamao Rural Credit Cooperative invited expert teams from the Guangzhou Institute of Forestry and Landscape Architecture to diagnose the ancient mango tree with a tilting canopy and implement various repair and rejuvenation measures, improving the tree's growth condition.

Simultaneously, over 200 second-generation Xiaomao mango trees in the orchard are thriving, inheriting the ancient tree's genetic and historic cultural values.
To continue promoting the development of the paired assistance areas, last year Xiamao village conducted a trial planting of second-generation Xiaomao mango trees in Qingping town, Lianjiang city. Currently, these seedlings have taken root, sprouted, and grown vigorously.
In the future, Xiamao Rural Credit Cooperative will continue to enhance the protection efforts for the Xiaomao mango ancient trees, transforming them into a prominent symbol of Xiamao in Baiyun Lake and perpetuating the legacy of ancient tree culture.
