Guangzhou plans to open two new expressway projects passing Baiyun district this year.

The South Section project of Guangzhou's New Baiyun International Airport Second Expressway has reached an overall progress of 99 percent. The project spans approximately 24.1 kilometers, linking Guangzhou's central urban area with Baiyun International Airport. It features seven interchanges and has a design speed of 100 km per hour.

The overall progress of the Guangzhou Zengcheng to Foshan Expressway (Zengcheng to Tianhe section) stands at 77 percent. The project begins in Zhucun Street, Zengcheng district, passing through Zengcheng, Huangpu, and Baiyun districts, and ends in Taihe town, Baiyun district, covering approximately 38.4 km. The area follows the standard of a dual six-lane expressway with a design speed of 100 km per hour.

The completion and opening of these two projects are set to alleviate traffic pressure on the highways surrounding Guangzhou, enhance the transportation connectivity between Guangzhou's central urban area and the northern regions, and support Guangzhou in becoming an international comprehensive transportation hub city.
