It draws inspiration from the legendary Chinese figure, the protective deity Nezha. The movie's storyline is rooted in the renowned 17th-century Chinese novel, The Investiture of the Gods, a pioneering literary work that introduced themes of "deities" and "demons" within Taoism and Buddhism.
The mythological figure of Nezha has an inexplicable connection with Baiyun district. Every year on the sixth day of the third month of the Chinese calendar, the people of Hantang village in Baiyun hold a grand Nezha's birth ceremony.
It is said that over 100 years ago, Hantang village suffered from a flood, and the villagers discovered a statue of Nezha and decided to worship it. Since then, Nezha has become the guardian deity of the villagers.
