Capture roundest moon on Lantern Festival night
In Guangzhou, the best time to admire the moon will be at 0:51 am on Feb 13, when the moon will be high in the night sky, reaching its maximum altitude above the horizon.
Compared to last year, this year's moon will appear larger and brighter. Due to the moon being closer to Earth, its apparent diameter is larger than last year. Additionally, the moon's altitude above the horizon is approximately 4 degrees higher than last year, causing the moonlight to pass through a thinner layer of atmosphere, making the full moon even brighter.
In Guangzhou, the moon will be visible for 13 hours and 18 minutes on Lantern Festival night, 17 minutes longer than last year.
Citizens of Baiyun district have several excellent spots to enjoy the moon. Baiyun Mountain, known for its spectacular view of the moon from atop its peaks, has always been the first choice for Guangzhou residents to climb up and admire the moon.
Furthermore, Baiyun Lake offers a picturesque scene where the lake's shimmering waters reflect the round moon, while Dajinzhong Reservoir boasts a mirror-like lake surface, creating a fairyland-like beauty when the full moon rises. These are also wonderful places to enjoy the moon.
Citizens can choose a suitable time and location to enjoy this beautiful Lantern Festival with their family and friends.
