Baiyun shows strong economic growth in 2024
In 2024, the GDP of Baiyun district, Guangzhou, reached 315.63 billion yuan ($43.34 billion), a year-on-year increase of 5.2 percent, ranking second in the city.
Key agricultural products saw growth in both output and value, with the total output of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery surpassing 8 billion yuan for the first time. Vegetable output grew by 4.5 percent, while the number of pigs raised increased by 13.8 percent.
The industrial sector maintained steady progress, with the total output value of large-scale industries increasing by 2.2 percent. Key industries experienced rapid growth, with new energy-related enterprises seeing a 46.9-percent increase in output value. The aviation transportation industry remained active, with a 21.2-percent increase in aviation cargo turnover and rapid development in multimodal transport.
The consumer market continued to grow, particularly in the trade-in of old for new products, leading to a 0.1-percent increase in the total retail sales of social consumer goods. The large-scale service industry sustained growth, with hot sectors maintaining their momentum, including significant growth in the advertising, travel agency services, and human resources industries.
Fixed asset investment showed signs of recovery, with strong support from industrial and construction project investments leading to a 5.8-percent increase in fixed asset investment to 120 billion yuan.
Baiyun's economy is on a strong growth trajectory, with all sectors showing sustained improvement, demonstrating strong vitality and potential.
